98 Windstar P0171/174 Lean code won't run

Hi,

I have a 1998 Windstar with a 3.0L engine. The engine light came on this morning, but the car ran fine all day. I tried to turn it on this evening anf it would turn over and run for 2 sec. and then turn off. I used a code reader and it came back with P0171 and P0174 lean codes. I checked for cracked/broken vacuum lines but didn't find any. I unhooked one line from the fuel filter and let it drain. Had the wife turn the car on and plenty of fuel kept shooting out. I've read on this forum that the codes show up and the car runs rough but mine cuts right off. I would appreciate some input on this one.
