Do the manual IP address thing again on the non-working pc. Use these addresses:
IP Address: 192.168.1.115
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.10.1

The IP address "192.168.1.115" should fall within the range of addresses configured into your router so it should be recognizable to your sub-net.

After you do that start Internet Explorer, enter 192.168.1.1 in the address field and click "Go". If you are connected to your sub-net you should get the configuration page for your router. If you still get nothing try pinging 192.168.1.1 and post the results.

Manual IP Configuration is NOT a good idea. If the router is serving DHCP to all other computers, it should do the same to the one that isn't working now.

Check the following:

-Does your wireless PCI card have power, is the LED on the back lit up when the computer is switched on?

-Can it connect to other wireless networks? Take it to a friends house and try this out. Occasionally there are incompatabilities between cards and routers from different manufaturers. Try it in different computers too and see if it works.

-Can it connect to your router when the router has no security on it - ie. login to the router, take all security off and make it an unsecured access point.

-Does your wireless card come with any custom Wireless configuration client? It will be available from the same support page you got the drivers from.

Have you tried that esoteric driver, the (FR) one yet?

1)LED does turn on.
2)I will bring the card to school tomorow and try this. Both the router and card are both linksys, so there shouldnt be any compatability issues.
3)No.
4)No.
5)There are no drivers for tha CA(FR) card.

Well, the 2 important things that will indicate where the problem lies are:
A) Does it connect to OTHER wireless networks; and
B) Does it work correctly in other computers

I will bring it with me to school and try it on the network and in other computers there.

well, I'm on the computer now, and I'm thinking its with the security now, but it wasn't working with out the security last week. But it works here at thee school, took a little while but it connects here at the school. This pisses me off though. I will try it again at home with no security again, and go from there, as soon as the 80 some updates are done here.

Try the manual configuration anyway. If it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't. I do it all the time when I'm setting up devices on a network, and it's helped me get things working several times. It won't blow up your computer, and it only takes a few seconds to change back. I just want to see if the signal is there and the if server is refusing to hand out a DHCP address to this particular machine whether it be due to poor signal or security...and manual configuration is the only way to get him on the right sub-net at this point. We're troubleshooting, which means we try to eliminate potential causes by experimenting.

This is retarded. I put in the correct network key after looking it upp on the other PC, and it works. At first it will connect to the network with no internet, then it will connect to the internet about 2 minutes after login. But it works. I dont get why it wasnt working when I had no wep key though, I put that in and it connects.

So, is it working now?

If you open a command prompt and type "ping google.com -t" does it get a steady ping?

So you were using the wrong WEP key the whole time?

Ok, i didn't see the -t on the ping, it times out every few times when I do that.

I guess I'm not to sure about the wep key, when ther wasn't a wep key a few weeks ago, I still didn't get internet. So that confuses me a little. But it seems to be working fine right now, so I'm not to worried.

Not really. When there wasnt a wep, I didnt use one, and I still didnt connect, so I think there was something else, but I dont know what.
