Liftgate Ajar

I have a 99 SEL. Sometimes, no matter how hard I shut the liftgate, that stoopid digital status display on the dash says "liftgate ajar" and the doors will not auto lock. I'll drive for a while, turn or hit a bump and all of a sudden the doors lock and the warning dissapears. I have looked and looked, but can't find where the sensor is located that dermines if the hatch is shut. Any help on this one?

Darn !! I went out to look at my 2001 and I could not find it... I see two spring guides one on each side of the lift gate it self and two rubber bolt looking stoppers.. on the bottom.. I was looking for a plunger. sometimes mine will act up as well and I know its a common problem. I will search, hopefully someone else will reply...


FOUND IT Dome Light and Door sensors..... Some of these are on earlier models but some have later models as well. This should help.....
