When I turn the key it screaches like i'm holding don the key, but i'm not then when i try to turn it off it doesn't turn off it just makes this weird noise like the car is still running but not in a normal sounding way, like its going to die but doesnt. So i turn the ke like im turnig it off and on and finally it works smoothly, also when this happens it blows the ignition fuse. this happens only intermittently, not every time i start the car, so the mechanics think im crazy. I've had the starter replaced 3 times, the ignition switch replaced, and the serpentine belt replaced, but nothing is working now they want to replace my flywheel and say it will cost over a thousand dollars!!! HELP!

sounds like electrical problem rather than flywheel, but may have damaged flywheel when starter would not disengage. I would get a second opinion. It sounds like your stater and Ignition is getting power after the key is turned off. That would indicate an electrical problem whether being the ignition itself again or in the wiring harness. Also may be something to do with alarm if so equipped. Is your SL2 a 97?

I Just got my car back Friday, and you're right. The mechanic said (And i apologize Im not very good at explaining this) He said that a wire that connects to my starter was rubbing up against something on my car and creating a "grounded circuit" so the starter was thinking that i was turning the key. sorry again for the bad explaination. So far the car has not made the noise >>its been 2 years that this has been going on<< I was about to get rid of the car, hopefully this solved the problem. thanks for the input!

Your welcome, I am glad that it was an easy fix. Somethings are just hard to explain, but you did a pretty good job on this one.
