I have a 99 saturn sl (single overhead cam). I have the code p0401. I have already replaced the EGR valve and I cannot get the code to disapear. Can anybody help? Is there a line or hose that could clog with carbon?

The port in the head may need to be cleaned out. Could have been your problem all along. Also, you need to clear the code with an OBDII scan tool or it may take several drive cycles for it to go away on its own, if the problem is fixed, that is.

Also might check for cracked or unhooked vacume lines going to EGR solenoid.

I have already replaced the EGR valve and I cannot get the code to disapear I believe that you car requires an OBD-II scanner (((>On Board Diagnostic<))):grinyes: Your EGR may be working perfectly, but the system's memory has not been cleared.

make sure you got the right part. 96-99 have a different flow rating than the 00-up. if you have the wrong part, it will fail the flow test.
