2000 Windstar turn signal

I finally figured out how to remove the headlight lens to change the turn signal bulb. When i pulled the old bulb out it was fine (both filaments were intact) but i put a new one in anyways. I tried the signal. The dashborad turn signalndicator would blink rapidly and dash bulb 'burnt out' warning light would come on. Then it would blink normally and the dash warning light would go off. But in both cases the bulb never lit up. Any ideas?

So it could possibly be the bulb holder?

:banghead: 3 wires come to your bulb holder. One of them has permanent 12 volts, the 2 others should be negative. You have to take a tester to check that; I'm pretty sure that one of the wire has no negative and this is the one that come from the front electronic module which send this negative to the flasher bulb. If you want to be sure, go to the opposite side of your van and check the 3 wires, so you will understand.
If the situation is like I say (no ground on one wire) expect that this wire is cutted between the front electronic module and the bulb. And you will have to find where the wire is cutted in the wiring harness. The Ford Windstar wiring diagram should be a big help to fix that issue. I had a similar problem 1 and a half year ago and I have decided to pass a new wire ( outside of the wiring harness)between the FEM and the bulb to fix that issue; I understand that this is not the best way but I was not willing to trace the trouble in the wiring harness. Also for your information the rear flasher is independant from the front and will continue to work correctly even if the front fail. My van is a 2001 model but I think 2000 is similar.
