P0145 02 Sensor Circuit Slow Resp? Help!

Does anyone have any diagnostic steps for this Code. I've searched this forum with no hits.
I have a 2002 Ford Windstar with a 3.8 and about 85,000 miles. I do show this on my OBD II scanner as Bank 1 - Sensor 3.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi
I do not think you have 3 per bank, as the older models with 3.8L had two per and rockauto.com shows 2 required. As an O2 sensor out is not a huge deal, why don't you clear the light with your scanner and see what it reads if/when the CEL comes back on. As for troubleshooting, I think in most cases replacing the respective sensor is your only recourse unless you clearly find damaged wiring that is repairable. For what it is worth, bank one includes cylinder one which is on the back (firewall side) of the engine compartment, with one being at the right (passenger side). O2 sensor one is on the exhaust manifold just downstream of where the three exhaust "lines" from cylinders 1,2&3 come together. #2 should be aft of the catalytic converter for that bank.

Let us know what happens.

Is there a single after cat(s) sensor or is there one sensor downstream of each of the two cats? I dont recall from my 2001. Either way, a consistant slow activity code means a failing sensor. If it is a downstreamer, atleast it's not a "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold" code. If it does throw this code consistantly, one or both of the cats is shot. Like busboy says, clear the code first & see if it comes back.

Looking in Alldatydiy for my year ('96), they do not list a code P0145.
You should have 4 oxygen sensors,
2 upstream sensors, one before each catalytic converter,
and 2 downstream sensors.....one after each catalytic converter.

The downstream sensors are used ONLY to monitor the catalytic converters to make sure that they are working.

The upstream sensors are used by the PCM to control the engine air fuel mixture, etc.

P0133 is for upstream sensor, bank 1 slow response
P0153 is for upstream sensor, bank 2 slow response

They do not list a slow response code for the downstream sensors, at least not in the near number sequence...just a code for each sensor for heater circuit malfunction and sensor circuit malfunction.

The code if the reading is not right from one of the downstream sensors will be

P0420 for catalyst efficiency below threshold for bank 1
P0430 for catalyst efficiency below threshold for bank 2
