I have a 2002 windstar with a P0303 cylinder 3 misfire and a P0316 engine misfire detected on startup. Vehicle runs rough. The plugs , wires and the fuel filter have been replaced. The fuel pump and both strainers have been replaced in the last 6 months. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Robert.

Cylinder #3 is on the driver side, back of the engine.
It is possible that the coil pack is bad.
You can try ohming it out....but another failure mode is the epoxy body of the coil pack can develop crack(s), through which the high voltage arcs.
I replaced mine, which was most likely good, but, if I was going to go to the bother of taking it out, I wanted a new, known good one to put in.
My problem ended up being solution #2.........

Also, very likely, is the fuel injector being dirty.
I have had dirty fuel injector issues several times on my '96 (at 175K miles now).
I have even had it come up with periodic use of fuel injector cleaner.

To clean the injectors on your own, I would get a can of Berryman's Chemtool B-12, in the metal can.
It is a solvent based cleaner.
I have used it several times with good results.
It may take a tank or 2 treated with it to clean the injectors up.

My misfire that ended up being dirty injectors was Cylinder #2, I did not have the P0316 code.
