Hi, thanks to multiple posts on the forum, I was able to replace the actuator on my 2000 windstar. Some observations however.
1. It is best to remove two top screws from the wooden trim after removing stereo at the top. Then remove two screws from each side of pull-out cup/ashtray to remove the trim. Once removed, unplug the lighter to sway the trim aside.
5/16" is the size for the screws on actuator (three total).
Itried multiple times to fit the new one but It would not go in. I realized the protusion (D-Shaped lever that actually moves the door) was not aligned. So as a hunch I plugged the harness, and it reset itself - what a relief. I did not want to force it and strip it. Rest was a breeze.
I was done in about 30 minutes. Heat is back on!!! Woo Hoo. The blend motor was $50 at dealer (they quoted $60 but I mentioned a mechanics shop to get wholesale price which was $47 plus tax.)

I've have a 2000 windstar LS too, with the problum (no heat just cool air).
But i found that in cast, I had a broken blind door and the actuator was OK it was trying real hard to open, the (D)slot would rotate with actuator but door stayed closed.
The qustion? how is were em i going to fine a Blind Door
I,m glad to see your's working OK
