Yeah, GM High Tech Performance Magazine has mentioned that for awhile now. Rumor has it, that there is a C6 is rolling around Michigan with prototype LS9. Its suppose to be going into the new Corvette 'Stringray', or 'Corvette SS' or 'Blue Devil' (whatever they decide to finally call it). Its a supercharged V8 (duh) with at least 650hp, but with a price over $100K. There is also a smaller LS8, which is also supercharged, but not intercooled, putting out around 500hp.
I've also read that GM sent out some 'preliminary castings' to some engine builders for testing, research and so-forth, and found out that the blocks specs measured out a whopping 511ci with massive heads to fit it. Sounds interesting...
Im not going to read 5 pages of this thread, but Chevy will NOT call it Corvette SS, you can take that to the bank (w00t above the law quote).

a lot of people are calling it exactly that. Ive seen it called just like this
""Corvette SS/Blue Devil"", not only by non-vette drivers but by some people who own vettes and can produce pictures of test mules ect. People who have built up a reputation for knowing what they are talking about.
Seems like the name is starting to stick, if this wasnt what its called why is everybody calling it that. And even if GM doesnt call it that doesnt mean everybody else dont. Kinda like calling a GTO a "Goat". Thats not what the emblem says but people know what a goat is.

I never said it was called the 'SS', but I know that was one of the names thrown around for this car. I named off a few just in case someone didn't know what I was referring to. I don't think GM has officially released a name for it yet. Everything is speculation right now, but 'SS' is a legitimate title.

Ive seen it called Z07 or sting ray too. Since i havent seen a post with any spy pictures of the mule, i will post a link with one from a reputable source.

they say Gm favors the SS name. So who knows.
>Z06 SR< (sting ray) has a good sound to it.

Looks good in black. The scoop needs refinement, but you can tell its a bolt on. Even at the price its probably going to be (way out of my range), thats a hell of a deal for a production car with as much power under the hood.

I plan on getting one in 2010. I not much for first year cars. Like 93 Z's, that's why I got a 94. I wouldn't get a 98 LS1, I'd get a 99. Wouldn't get an 04 GTO, I'd get an 05. I don't know why, I just feel the first year is a test year, so by the second year, they can have a lot of the major kinks worked out. But the base V8 model should go for low 20's with the Z28 model in the mid to upper 20's to compete with the mustang. The SS should be a bit more around the low-to-mid 30's. Not bad for the power though.

To put an SS tag on a Vette would be an abomination.

Many people think that too. I think that's why GM won't slap the SS badge on the vette. The last name I've heard thrown around in consideration was the 'Stringray'.
