since ive owned my car. about a year. i havnt changed my o2 sensor. ive had a guys tell me that if theres no code being thrown then theres no prob. my car idles kinda rough sometimes. and im pretty sure everything else is good. i was curious what effect an o2 sencor would have on a car idle. if it helps any i drive a 94 SL1 SOHC. thanx

I have never changed the sensors unless there was a code. In my experience, most saturns seem to have a bit of a rough idle compared to other cars. Don't know why, but they seem to anyway. I've seen several that did it for 150,000 miles or more. Now if it is really rough, it could be plugs, wires, etc, but I'm assuming that you've done that. No codes at all?

I would think fuel mileage would be more of an issue than idle with the 02. if you're sure there's no code, then there's no problem. yes, saturns do idle a little rough sometimes. check plugs/wires/clean throttle body/egr and all that good stuff just in case.

i replaced the plugs and wires last march and and the egr a few months ago. its not a rough idle but it is a niticable one. i thought maybe o2 since i havnt changed it yet and its maybe stock. any other ideas for the idle?

I had platinum plugs ruin an engine by dropping the insulators inside the cylinders. Last time I buy (bought) platinum.
