2003 Impala Keyless Entry Problem

Hello, I've searched through the threads and didn't see any that referred to this problem so I'm sorry if this is a repeat.
I don't have an owner's manual for the car and was wondering if there is a connection between the car battery dying and the remote keyless entry failing.
Over the weekend my car battery died and when I jumped the car the remote keyless entry did not work anymore. I don't think the battery in the remote is dead because it was working perfectly fine until the car battery died. Is there a way to fix this? Is there a keyless entry relay switch that needs to be reset or something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You may have to reprogram the remote. This is done through the factory stereo. Directions are in the manual.
