ABS and no Odometer reading

Before i start spending a fortune at the garage ...

Today after doing my daily routine I noticed after my last stop that ABS light was on and Odometer reading was --------

I would take a look at # 10 fuse or ABS fuse I think too if you go in to "search the forum" you may find some more trouble shooting areas about this but from what I can remember # 10 fuse may be your issue or ABS fuse and or reley.Hope this helps.

Thanks checked fuses and sure enough it was # 10 fuse

One thing, I put another 10amp fuse in and it popped, So i put a 15amp fuse in .. seems to be ok now I just hope i dont cause another problem with this solution

Ooops, thats a big No No! You probably have a short overloading the circuit and thats whats causing the fuse to blow. By putting a bigger fuse your allowing more AMP to get thru than what the system components is design to hold which can and will cause them to fail and that could be very costly!
It needs to be corrected before you really start spending a fortune at the garage...

Check your brake fluid resvior. To see if fluid has been leaking around the area. There is a plug that runs to the fluid resvior and can get fluid on it and cause this problem. If the fluid level is too high use a turky baster or eye droper to get the level back to spec. Use electrical cleaner sold at all auto parts store and clean connector.
Check and make sure there is no leaks around the area... Post back and let us know what you find. Hope this helps, Gary

My 1999 just developed this similar problem and I checked the fluid reservior area, it is been leaking badly. What should I do?

A leak point to be concerned about would be the pressure switch that is located on the bottom of the master cylinder.
If leaking.....it needs to be replaced.

The Brake Pressure Switchs are faulty on these Windstars (and Other Fords). I just replaced mine on my 99 WS. They connect to the bottom of the Master Cylindar. First, purchase a new one (on-line is cheaper than the Ford dealers) cost should be around $ 25. Second, disconnect the old one from it's connection. With an adjustable wrench turn the switch counter-clockwise (the wrench sb on the nut just below the base of the Master Cylindar) or (Just above the part that shines). Once loose, take off by hand but place a small cup (enough for a couple ounces) to catch the small amount of brake fluid that will come out once the switch is removed. Only a couple of Oz will come out. Put in the new one by hand and tighten by wrench. Make it snug but don't over tighten. Reconnect the switch. Takes about 15 minutes. Some remove the air filter and housing to have more room, but you may not have to.

Take note that the FORD part numbers that I show are for my '96....and could have changed since then.....however, the parts people at the dealership will have no problem with getting you set up with the correct part.
