Welcome on your first post on AF.
If the check engine light is on you need to check for codes and the clear code and see if it returns.
Post back code no.
Was it on before plug replacement?
Anything left unpluged?

If the check engine light is on get it scanned and post back code no.

And here is some tips on posting problems.
Tips on getting a good answer to your questions.
People trying to answer your question do not have a crystal ball.
So give them all of the info you have like year make and model and engine and transmission.
Also service cars engine and transmission service history or any recent repairs or problems.
Also a description of your problem and what it is doing or not doing.
If you have codes give up the code no.
And remember a code does not say replace the part but only points to the problem that you have to check out.
So to better help you give up all of the info you have on it.

I also apparantly destroyed my steering bar or something like that but i couldnt really hear him because i was in my company truck. anyways thanks for the advice on the forums and you will more then likely hear from me again

WHOA! 05 impalas for the most part have electric steering assist. meaning NO PUMP, and no lines to break. Either way, what is a steering bar? If he is saying cross link, GET YOUR CAR OUT OF THERE! regardless of the power assist system, those cars always had rack and pinion steering gears.

just curious, how was there a bracket torn off while changing spark plugs? sounds like someone is trying to take you for a ride.

As said find another shop fast.
Tips on finding a good repair shop by MT

Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.

well my mom's boy toy has a friend who says he will charge me only $40 an hour plus parts which is better then paying $103 and hour at the other place. Oh i need an opinion on what kind of cables to go with my new iridium spark plugs and what other upgrades i can get to add more power into the car.

Actually the 2004 Impala has the std p/s pump rack system, I cannot picture this bracket issue unless the rack itself was damaged, for $1,400. If so how did this happen, may be an insurance issue also.
