I have a 2004 Impala.Took both front brake disk off to have turned. The part of the caliper that holds the pads , it's removable from the main caliper , are mixed together. I thought right could only go on right and left on left , but now I am ready to put back together and see that either can go on either side.Parts are marked on both ends , but I need some help to get them on the correct side. Thanks

GM usually casts an L (drivers side) and R (pass side) in their calipers. The brackets that bolt to the spindle are interchangeable (GM #18029829), but the hydraulic portion are side specific. If you didn't disconnect the brake line and completely remove the hydraulic part from the car, it doesn't matter which side you put the brackets on.

This is for your information only as Rick would know this. If your replacing calipers and put them on the wrong wheel. The bleed screw would be on the bottom and you can't bleed the system.
