Installing Drfit Rear Bumper?
EbenLudwig

Ok I just got a drift rear bumper for my 2002 Cavalier LS and the company i bought it from said if would fit a 95-02.. when comparing it to my old stock bumper it seems alot bigger but this might be because its alot stiffer then my stock one is and hasn't really been formed yet. I was wondering if anyone else has installed a drift rear bumper on ther cavalier??.. also do i need to modify the stock rear bumper support or the ruber support guard or do I need to remove the rubber guard off the metal rear support? Or do i need to buy a custume bumper support to replace the stock one?? I've cut the crap out of the back end to try and get this thing to fit properly over my rear bumper support with the rubber still intact. I have one to replace it with if I have to go back stock but I dont see this thing fitting on the back of the car with out modifing the stock stuff. when i got the drift bumper it had a notch in it almost like if it was for the tail pipe but later i realised that it was a diagram to cut the bottum of the bumper a bit or at least that what i've seen on other cars with the same drift kit. Anyways if anyone could give me some info or point me in the right direction maybe with some installation guids?? I work for a body shop and i've never seen anything like im almost to the point of replacing it with a diffrent bumper.. so far i have a blitz front bumper and drift side skirts not sure what else would look goood in the back.

Derk the one guy on here just bought a drift kit and is in the middle of installing it on his cavy. so wait until he posts on here with his advice. You should of just went with the Drift kit all the way around instead of using the Blitz from bumper.

 um shiz... cuz i've had some really bad luck with getting hit lately i've been hit 3 times twice in the back and once in the front.. are u sure thers not suposed to be any support in the back?? becaue your right if i get tanked in the back that the end of my car theyd go straight thro the trunk lol... can u verifie this?? I might just wont to get a diffrent bumper. ANy sugesstions? on a bumper that would go with a blitz front and drfit side skirts?? the reason i went with blitz front and drift back and sides is because i've seen it done before and it looks very nice not may peopel do this but damn if im going to take both the rubber and the metal support out lol.. but this would explain why you can see it hanging out at the bottum huh??

02 and 03 ls sport bumpers look totally different from each other, and if you're worried about the support in the bumper, maybe you wouldnt have to remove it with an 03+ bumper, and they almost look like body kits as well. You could spend the money on another aftermarket bumper and be stuck with the same problem.

Well mine was rubber.. but either way its not the foam/rubber im woried about its removing the metal support bar in the back.. with out either one of them.. somone hits me in the back -=The End=- that a drift rear bumper in that picture of yours insn't it?
That picture of the 03 LS is almost the same as mine expect a little diffrence in the very back of the bumper. and the skirt is alot lower on mine and cut diffrent for my crome tail pipe

I guess that makes me the go to guy then eh? Well I havn't attempted putting my DRIFT rear on yet. I was just looking at the steps it would take. Is yours wider then your stock bumper too? Mine is about 3 inches wider, so Needless to say it's going to have to bend. I had to remove the bumper guard or whatever you called it, in the front, if not it would have stuck out about 3 inches farther than it should and the spots where you're suppose to pre-drill wouldn't line up...Plus there's no room for my intercooler, lol so we had to chuck that... I wasn't sure if there was one in the back or not, I figured that much. and As far as I knew, you had to remove them to install aftermarket kits anyway... Did you do your side-skirts yourself, or did you have a pro do it? Cuz that's what I'm pondering on right now.

First off no i haven't done the side skirts but ther kinda the least of my problem lol Because at least from what i've seen those aren't 3 inches bigger then the stock. My dad and I work for a body shop.. and we do most the work out of my dads garage.. so far the things I have tryed in the back..
One I cut the Rubber/foam on the bottum to try and get it to fit. ten i cut the medal support bar on the bottom.. then finally riped the shiz off outa fustration... and now it atleast fits to the back of the car.. something i've noticed tho the medal support bar in the back is still visible underneath and looks terible all though mine could be hanging an inch or 2 lower then its suposed to because i got hit in the back and the back was pushed in a good bit and I had to pull it out. But anyways yeah it hang out about an inch underneath and looks really bad.. and then trying to get it pushed in on both side to drill it to the back its about 2-3 inches bigger it seems like... than the stock one almost as if it was made for a wider body style?? I looked up on alot of website and beleave it or not I found one website that said the drift kit they where selling was for an older modle wide body cavalier. but i refuse to listen to one source of information. Did your drift kit come already cut out on the bottom of does yours have a cut out on the back left side.. that looks like where u would put the tail pipe?? because if seen one other person wioth a drift kit and they cut the bottom side to side useing that pre-cut as a diagram?

Just playing back Zach, lol. and yes It's pre-cut for the muffler. Actually great spot, fits perfect, lol. I havn't tried to fit it on there, with the old bumper off yet. So I'm not sure on the placement, and the hanging..but which support bar are we talking about? You mean the one that the actual bumper is bolted into? b/c if so then it must be seriously bent dude, lol.

Im talkin about the medal support bar that is bolted onto the back of the car. Mine then had a rubber guard over it that lined up pretty good underneath the trunk lid. my bumper it self was mainly attached the side under the trunk and on the side behind the wheels. Dont recall it actually being bolted ont the medal support in the back or the rubber either. the rubber was tacked on with ribits. Could u post a picture of your drift bumper i swear i had to cut mine because the medal support bar was in the way even with the rubber guard off.. and like I said before yea mine hang out and that with an inch cut off. This is after i cut it straight across from the pre-cut they already but in it... the reson i cut it is because the square they cut in the bottom looked crazy for the tail pipe and I was planing on making my duel piped in the back and every car i've seen duel piped the drift kit was cut out across the bottom to open it up.. even with out the cut... the pre-cut the factory or who ever cut on the left side.. the medal support bar was still visible. The car would defently have to be lowerd a good bit. not to mention when u push it in on both side it bubles the middle of the bumber under the trunk so that would have to be filled in.

Yea so them brackets....u get them off of ebay? If so....yea throw them out or use them for a door or something lol. Certain cars cant use brackets (cavaliers, sunfires, grand am, pretty much anything american) What your gonna have to do is cut part of the metal off the trunk where the existing bolts are and make new ones that come in from the side.

well i measured the bumper and its like 2-2 1/2 inches shorter than the stock one and the place for the tag is like 5-51/2 inches and a normal tag is like over 6 inches so its like an inch-inch 1/2 to small to even place the tag in it. I just really wont to know where u guys got your drift bumper because im going to try returning this one and going with a diffrent company.

Actually I would have to agree... the drift kit or drfit bumper has been made for more cars than just the cavalier.... I got the kit from kidimports.com. My kit was completly white just like the picture shown on page 2 of the post, exepct for the drift bumper (it was black). Now kid imports had to get this order from a ware house.. the ware house calls me and tells me the one they have in stock is cracked, and they try to sell me of trade me a diffrent bumper I tell them no I like the drift rear bumper thats why I purchased it. He said ok sir but we will have to get one shiped into us and it could take 2-3 weeks for them to ship it to us. So I said ok thats fine im not in a hurry. Now like I said the front bumper and side skirts are white but this thing comes black, I only check it for crack and damage. I see none so I say okay this si cool, and sighned off on it. So now that I'm trying to install the bumper I notice that it look nothing like the picture on page 2 of this post or any of the picture, it is alot wider, and alot shorter It is 10inches compared to my stock 12 and a 1/2 inches... and I also notice that the place for the tag is much smaller and it dosen't fit. So it may be a foreign bumper?? Any one else agree???

Ok i still want other peoples opinions but I think i have comfirmed that this is a european calavier bumper not only is that moddle wider but its much lower to the ground witch explain it being shorter then the others i've seen.. also european tags are much smaller witch explain why my tag doesn't fit in the place for the Lic Plate. So... :uhoh: uh!

Um the rest of the kit from what I can see looks fine.. Kid Imports is in the US and so is the ware house, but the ware house and kid imports dont work for each other so the ware house ship kid imports the wrong one.. and more then likely it was ship out of country.

About the Vauxhall, I looked them up today. I was amazed. They have a turbo 2.5 V6 version, producing near 200 horses stock. Also checked out car domain, I was searching for the body kit (like the rear bumper) but they all had the license plate on the trunk lid, not the bumper...so it wasn't from a european (Vauxhall) Cavalier, probably just a generic Drift kit

Yea.. im still looking. What spoilers look good on the cavy?? I think I want to stay clear of putting a wing on it I haven't seen any wings that look good. Thats the first spoiler that i've seen that looks half way decent and not to over bulky. I want one that comes off the trunk a little, the stock one I have looks good and its dif from most cavys around my area, but washing the damn thing is a pain in the arse water gets up under it and leaks through out the day so I want one thats raised a little.

I'm not sure if I can do it. But I would love to have one of the stock wings off of a 3000 GT P.I.M.P! http://www.theautochannel.com/media/photos/mitsubishi/1998/98_mitsubishi_3000gt_vr4_2.jpg

I like that Venom one alot, i've never seen it before tho. I personally want to throw a Celica TRD wing or an Evo8+ wing on mine. You could always try a Cobalt SS wing.

Maybe something for Lance to photoshop hmmmmmmmm.....
Then again I think the stock z24 spoiler looks really good too.
