"This is my own post copied from layitlow.com"
I have a 2004 Chevy Impala, and I want to throw a double-din sized Navigation / DVD in the dash (Pioneer AVIC-D2 OR Z1 to be exact). I'm hearing it won’t fit, and I also heard somewhere that it will fit. I just want to know the straight truth about any possible complications before I dish out the money for the unit. That's an expensive experiment to venture off into blind (for me at least). It's all plastic and metal, so I know some kind of modification can be done to make it happen. I just don’t know what that modification is (if any). If anybody out there can give me a few pointers, or post up a picture or 2 with something like this done, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
BTW: Before anybody says I still need my factory radio, I know about the factory radio settings, and chimes, etc with this car. I have modules and adapters that fix these issues. So I have no need to install my factory radio in the trunk or anything like that.
