Tranny OIL???

Damn it's hard to find a 90-91 civic, anyways, I test drove this particular one, cleanest interior, but the stick shift was very stiff. Could this be the tranny oil? or the Clutch? Didn't seem to be any slippage though.

My 89 Civic had the same problem. The lubrication on the shift linkage (right underneath the shifter on the underside of the car) was all dried out. It is located right over the exhaust pipe and I figured the rusted off heat shields resulted in too much heat hitting the shifter linkage. I took apart the linkage, replace a couple of o-rings and lubricated with a high temp grease. It has been 2-3 years with no re-occurance.

yeah that should work, you shouldnt have a problem after that.
