Hello,
I have 98 Windstar and the cruise control is not working anymore. I like to try to fix it before taking it to a dealer ($$$). Are there some test I can try to find out what is wrong with this?
I tried to find the fuse but could not locate it in the manual. It must have different name.

Which manual are you talking about? A Chilton or Haynes manual or the Ford manual. If the former then go here and download the 98 Ford truck ISO and make the CD:

There should be a set of troubleshooting steps there for this problem.

The most common cause for cruise control to not work is the brake pressure switch.
The Brake Pressure switch is located on the bottom of the brake master cylinder......has wires going to it.
It leaks some brake fluid, and fails.
If yours is even slightly damp.....I would replace it.
You can get a replacement "kit" at your dealership.....they are pretty cheap......about $20 or so.
I have pictures of the replacement of this part on my '96 3.8L in the pictures that the link in my signature will take you to.

I have the same problem (stil is leaking, I will fix it tomorrow) , the leaking is coming from the sensor under the master cilinder, but it took me a while to find out the source of the leak (I never checked if the cruise control was working). It is a shame that we can not place pictures in this forum to show you the leaking sensor. Thank you for the advise, I will replace this sensor. (if you want the picture, send me a message).
I have a question, After replacing the sensor, Do I have to perform another step like purging the system to get rid of any trapped air into the system? How do I do that? Is there any other advise on changing this sensor? I will appreciate your help.

You will not have to do any purging or anything like that after replacing the brake pressure sensor ... only a couple of additional drops will come out ... a little top-off may be needed, but not much.
