Me and most other people think the singer wiper mod is really stupid, but whatever floats yer boat. Here's a link on how to do it: http://crx.honda-perf.org/articles/ricenice/monowiper/monowiper.html

Sorry man.
I just don't understand why anyone would want to do that mod.
1.) Reduced visibility in the rain/snow puts yourself and other drivers at risk.
2.) Provides absolutely no functional benefit (other than a slight decrease in the cars weight).
Some people think it looks cool, and I guess that's why they do it. I don't agree with that, but that's cool. My main objection is the reduced visibility. I don't want some dumbass with one wiper to crash into me because he can't see through the water on his windshield...

Its not going to work right unless you have a sophisticated system to adjust to the movement of the wiper. It's not a good idea and in the rain your wiping will suck. Plus it looks sort of dumb, it's a Civic, not a Diablo.

no problem man. now that you put it that way, i see why it would be dumb. so i think i'll pass on it.

You don't need any sophisticated system. You just remove the drivers side wiper, and then, adjust the pass. side one so that it sticks up at like a 45 deg. angle...

Yeah but without something to adjust it you have the classic rice boy giant wiper arm hanging out and looking retarded, it will never tuck away like the normal ones do.

...if you're going to do it, this is the 'best' way to do it... the typical way is to totally remove the driver's side arm....loosen up the passenger side arm a bit and move it up....it takes some trial and error to get the sweep to be centered in the windshield. I had this done way back in the day ;) definitely sucks in heavy rain though.
here's my opinion (not that anyone asked for it ;) )..wipers are ugly..why draw more attention to them? if anything...totally take em off and throw em in the hatch. get some wingnuts that fit so you'll be able to take em on/off quickly in the rain ;) good luck with whatever you do though..

<------------I did it :D of course I did it on a dare and when I paint my wiper arms it'll be back to normal but I like sporting my rice for a while, besides that, my civic isn't on the road LOL.
that has to be the best no-dollar mod. It works best on some hatchs though like my old Mazda 323, before I broke the windows out I had planned on taking it on the road with the uniwiper and I had it looking and working pretty sweet.

I wonder if you can replace the wiper mechanism from another car that has a one wiper system. My single wiper on my Mercedes works wonders, one giant sweep and its all clear. Maybe one from a junked 190E would work...But I agree w/ Marked001...Keep em in the hatch, use a wing nut or Take em off in the Summertime and replace em in the Winter.

go ahead and do it to try something new out, who cares whether its rice or not? just open the hood, unscrew the two black bolts connecting your blades to the body, tilt the wiper up like when you wash your car and they just come off... take off the drivers side wiper and reposition the middle one. If you want you can also get a longer wiper blade to cover more area of the window! :)

I did it a while ago and kind of liked it, but I think it looks way better on a black car like mdnnccivicrcr's. I ended up doing the no wiper conversion for a while.
It is more of a show mod than being practical though, cause it does not wipe nearly as well as both of em.
But since I am going to import revolution later today, i think I will have to sport the uniwiper, and bust out my mad bling bling.

Nobody mentioned that it's probably illegal. Your wiper(s) are supposed to sweep some (I don't know what) percentage of your windshield from what I understand. You're losing coverage if you go to one.

Ha! me 2 - except I did it cuz my linkage got all messed up (meaning quit working) and my driver side wiper would be all over laying on the rear view mirror - lol! So. I just took them off 'til I finally snagged some from another car at the junkyard. I prayed for no rain.
Just for the record - Rain-X works great when you DON'T use wipers at all. The Rain-X starts to suck when you wipe all the shit off with wipers, but when you have nothing to wipe, Rain-X is the shit!
And although I don't have the mono-wiper conversion, someone else asked about what length wipers..I went to the longest wipers I could get that don't hang off the end of the windshield (pass. side) and don't whack the top of the windshield - I think they are 20" ---the 21's" are a little too long ;)

I agree, rain-x is the shit! One time we went to a movie in fairfield (town 15 miles east of napa) and it was raining and I wasnt using the wipers, and the people in my car were like "this is really strange rain" and I just laughed. What also sucks is it works fine if you are out in the cuts but the minute other lights shine on it it sucks.

how sad...all the things old skoolers used to do has become rice :( back in '95 you didn't roll up on a honda with black rims and the single wiper, because it was 99.9% certain that it was a track car. before you go  i'm being serious. before i moved up here (back in 95) my "mentors" had a 95 Integra (12 second car that broke 11 right before i moved) that was the cover car SCC in '95, 13 sec 87 RX-7 and 13 second 5th gen hatch. considering the battle of imports winner ran a 12.3 that year...i would have to say those 3 cars were not to be fucked with. all 3 cars had no exterior mods other than black rims and the single wiper.
i have been considering doing "hoopty whoop" up old skool style and the single wiper is something that had crossed my mind :) so, i say go for what ya know...do what makes you happy!

The only reason I did the uniwiper to my 323 is because not a lot of people have it, so it's unique just like my mazda. (only seen two other 2nd gen 323's!)

There is a 2nd gen 323 in Napa with Intake / Exhaust and a terrible paint job, and chrome rims, the guy thinks its the pimpest shit ever.

well in missouri we dont have any kind of emissions checks as all besides they jack the car up and look to make sure it has a catylytic converter on it. Im not sure if its illegal to swap motors without going through the whole legal process, but the inspector popped my hood and didnt notice anything wrong with it at all even though its a d16z6. they did ask me what the connector that was disconnected was? (oil pressure sensor on the vtec selenoid" and i told them something like "its something that this car doesnt need so its not hooked up"
