97 Mercury sable battery spec

Hi,

My sable didn't start today and I had to get it jumper start. My mechanic says that the battery needs to be replaced. Right now the battery is from Die hard and says 31359, 58R, 460CCA and 580 CA.
What does this means? Do I need to get the same one or I can get a cheaper one. Please recommend.

Get the same one or recommended one for your type of vehicle, however, CCA is usually called Cold Cranking Amps. The higher the Amps the more power it can turn your engine over especially during winter time. If you live in a very cold climate, I would get a higher CCA than what you have so you have more Amps when turning your engine over during winter time. All battery's efficiency will lower down it's cranking power Amps during cold times. Higher CCA battery will have a better chance of working during winter time since they still have enough reserve amp to turn over engine.

You don't have to get the same brand. You can get batteries for your car from many places.
