The s2000 is sexy as hell, but it is SO unpractical. Mainly just because it is a 2-seater. I would consider a tC, but I think the is300 is the way to go.

why don't you just get a 2g gsx and make it a monster? it would be cheaper then the is300 and the s2k. take all your mods of the car and sell it stock. then throw everything on the gsx and your on your way to a fresh and happier start. thats what i would do

Because of crankwalk...again.

Crunchy, just don't get too buy-happy with the mods if you get the 2000. You go Honda for reliability not speed.

crankwalk doesn't happen that often as people think, it's over rated until it happens. why not just do a 6 bolt swap?

Thor06
09-08-2006, 03:53 PM
It doesnt happen much on non modded cars. Seems that you do a decent amount of bolt-ons and BAM, it CW's wall over your ball sack. CW is not overrated, just ask Kevin, crunchy, Scott, and Brian. How many motors have you CW'd? Yeah, once you do you wont think its overrated.

Totally not overrated... I said the same thing at one time but now have noticed that about 75% of the modded DSM's crankwalk. Those who leave them stock rarely have a problem with it and we all know that most people buy DSM's to mod them.

And the 6 bolt swap just isn't that practical for most people unless they know what they are doing and know what all needs to be changed for the swap.

Well you figure modded engines are putting out more power and putting the engine under more stress. Crankwalk is more than likely to happen on them just bc of that. Non modded cars will of course take longer to CW bc they're not putting out as much power. They still will though. You see that most modded 7-bolt are around 110-130k miles. Non modded would probably be about 160k+. However, not too many of the non modded cars will last that long.

i'm convinced, i'm looking through autotrader today to find me a honda. naw, i don't have to much to worry about, mine is close to stock, i wish i could mod more than i can now but i have a baby on the way so that where most o my cash flow is gonna go

No offense, but I think that is a dumb idea. Let the man try something new...As for me I am going to sell my talon in the next month, just because I want something more "mature" than a DSM. I am definitly going german luxury for my next car!:iceslolan I am contemplating between a e46 3-series coupe or a 2002-2003 Audi A4.

~95 M3 FTW. If I had a really good shop and a lot of money, I would do one of those.

LOL. No I'm not sick of it. I wish i could keep it, but "physically" there is not enough room in my driveway/garage for the talon. Plus I drive my Cavalier as my DD and now my sister will be taking it for her DD and now I am ready to buy a newer more mature car.

Thor, I was thinking if getting an e36 m3, (those bitches are badass) but I need to get a newer car with less mileage on it, just because this car will have to be my DD all throughout college. I will probably keep this next car for the next 5-10 years. Plus I LOVE the look of the e46 BMW. I just wish I could afford a e46 M3.

dammit again

found a stock 2000 civic SI down in Houston. Told the guy the most I would offer is 11k if the car was in PERFECT condition. I told him if that wasn't gonna work then let me know so I wouldn't drive 4 hours for nothing.

I get there, the car is nice, then he tells me he wants 12.5k

uhh....fucking assholes everywhere selling cars

That's just not right. If he keeps doing shit like that, he'll never sell it.

I've noticed that alot lately too. None of the regulars have cars that run, or at least run well, and some of them don't even have DSM's anymore. Kevin doesn't have one (although I still see him as a DSMer), Thor your's doesnt' run, my 2 don't run, Brian's doesn't run, crunchy's walked, Scott's walked, and everyone else seems to be having some other sort of problem.

It think Travis and David are the only 2 that I can think of right now that actually have running cars.

EDIT: And Killer, his runs too! Can't forget about him.

lmao mine dont run

cool man I guess you go to UTSA? You live right next to the best DSM shop in San antonio by the way. I'm good friends with the owner, he taught me alot. In fact I'm towing the DSM there until I decide what I want to do with it.

after talking to a DSM mechanic and friend, he's advised that it might not be crankwalk after all. I can't physically see the crank pulley move when the clutch goes in and out, but then again I haven't had ANY free time since it happened, so I can't actually get to it. I'm having it towed where he will check crank endplay with the dial indicator for me. If it turns out not to be crankwalk, the only other thing it could be is the clutch. If so, the clutch will be replaced, and I'm selling it. it's 1g AWD drag car time. Goal is a 10 sec timelslip before I graduate.

good news. Turned out to be a small crack in a metal clutch line that didn't leak very much, but enough to release all the pressure. Car is running fine now. It will be for sale soon.

O yeah I have a 2000 civic SI for a daily now. Need to start looking for a 1g soon ;)

Thor06

be careful with those SRT's...

There have been a few here sold to people, and they have taken them to the dealerships, and the dealer refuses to work on it b/c in the computer it shows that the car had been totalled...

thats what carfax is for :)

Sry, Carfax came back clean on both cars...
Don't know why and don't know how...

But my friend got ripped the fuck off, he put $3k down on the car, and was told it was straight... then he took it to dealership and found that out, and he asked for his money back, and they refused (even though it was under warranty) and he ran it hard as hell and stopped paying for it... when they repossessed it, they took his ticket and CDs....

he did manage to squeeze a 9.9 (1/8th) out of it, completely stock...

blk_srt
10-13-2006, 12:55 PM
There is also the lemon law that would cover your ass in a situation like that. Regardless that seems the be in issue with the dealer not the car

Mikelb
10-13-2006, 12:57 PM
Following up on that damn law would take too much money I guess... He has tried quite a few things... but I think he was gonna handle it himself (tires, glass, lights, dash, interior) if ya know what I mean...
