Yeup, but thats only for the NSX-R II, which drops 154lbs thanks to carbon fiber in the hood, wing and seats...
when it was stated that the ferrari "doesnt' have a wing"
the previous post noted "wings and other aerodynamic aids"
have you seen the bottom of the ferrari?
undertrays are extremely important in creating downforce. that is why it doesn't need the wing. channeling air efficiently under the body can do the same as channeling it efficiently above. that is why alot of very high speed vehicles have nearly smooth undertrays that are aerodynamically tuned to create downforce, and keep wings smaller to reduce drag.
Power to weight always matters, it's part of how much power it takes to go faster. Of course, at a certain point, aerodynamics become more of a resistance than inertia and tire drag.
The reason the new Ferraris don't have wings? A simplification of the above statement from Flylwsi, the Ferrari's body is a wing.

This thread was pretty funny to read thru.
A miata will tear MANY a sportscar a new arse, even Ferrari, Lambo, etc etc not just Corvette.
I put money on my miata all the time. Dont be Haters. They're great cars.

Hey there. No Problem at all. I despise it when people hate on miatas or say " the other car wasnt trying" when you pull a Z06 like saltwater taffy.
But, with that said, its that VERY attitude that makes it SOOO much fun when you get those people out on the track to race. and their expression turns to this....
The monster miata is fine, its getting ready for a winter installation of a Kenne Bell Blowzilla Supercharger & Flowzilla intake installation. I spoke with Ric Stephens the other day and told him that he may have beaten me in the universal race last year for 300+rwhp on the stock motor BUT Im gonna be the first wheelstand miata! :)
The turbo 4banger ( car in video above) is cool too, but I havent had it out racing for awhile. Last it ran was an 11.5@120.
Anyway, I dont stop in here too often but I did and saw your thread and had to post.
Cheers

That's your miata? I love that thing!
Miatas are a great platform, lightweight, good suspension, good looks... the only problem is the lack of power. I see you have fixed that very well :)

Thanks, I appreciate it. :)
The way you phrased your post it sounds like you've seen it before? Has that burnout video been getting around?

Yes it has:rolleyes: I saw it on another board.
My $0.02: Stock for stock, the Corvette takes all. When you get into modifying, its a whole different story.

actually... according to the first post... it wasnt a Z06. Just a C5 Corvette Hardtop. It could of been a Z06, but since it is not stated, we've got to assume it wasnt.
Theoretically, if he had raced a Z06 i think the Vette would of gotten him back. Due to the fact that the Z06 has 55 more horespower to play with (possibly more cause im sure its HP numbers are underated). And its lighter, better suspension and all that other goodies.
But, it would of been a cool race to see if it was a Z06 or not.
Just my .03.

No it was not a z06, had it been it would have pulled on me. It was a C5 hardtop
but as far as turbo miatas go, mines a baby. So Z06 caliber cars are not that hard to beat.

I am just curious to how much you spent on your car. And what are your times?

I purchased it new in 1994 for autocrossing. Retail for the R package model was 24K. I paid 20K I think. My mods I havent kept track of the cost, but it wasnt insane. I do all my own fabricating, tuning, etc.
As far as my times..wana race? ;)
