HID installation question

I wanted to upgrade from my old halogens to hid, so I put in a pair of 5k low beams. Everything worked fine except the beams wouldnt turn off, so I tried 1 halogen and 1 hid; everything fine.


Both sets draw the same amount of power, so I'm stumped on why the new lights don't turn off. My friend thinks it's a relay problem, any other thoughts, or experiences?
