Headlight problems

I have an odd - and very occasional - problem with my headlights on my 2002 Impala. When I'm driving with the hi-beams on, the headlights will suddenly go out completely. If I switch the low-beams back on they come on, and then back to the high beams it's OK again. As I said, this occurs only very occasionally and can't reproduce it at will. I got the car about a year ago, and about a month after I got it I had to have both the engine and body control modules replaced.

Sounds like the mulit-function switch on the steering column is going south. You could try spraying TV tuner or contact cleaner in there. You can get the spray at Radio Shack-up.

Here's a link to a picture of the part Corning is referring to.

Thanks for the suggestion. I also talked with the dealer service tech and he told me it may be a circuit breaker. I know there are fuses, but I never heard of a circuit breaker in a car - is he right? Or did he maybe mean the fuse?
