Neither driver or passenger window/lock switches work. However, the driver side switch is able to control the rear quarter panel windows, and the mirror control works. But neither switch for passenger window or driver window work. The switch on the passenger door is the same. Also both are unable to lock/unlock the doors from the inside. The remote is able to do this. I was told this could be a relay problem?? Please help!! Thank you!!

Check related fuses see glove box manual for fuse number. If fuses good, check power to the window motor by removing the door panel and water guard and unpluging the motor. Reconnect the window switch and connect a volt meter to the motor plug. Operate the related switch and see if you get 12 volts at the motor plug. If there is power to the motor then you have a motor problem. If there is no power to the motor, you might try to clean the contacts on the master switch on the drivers side. You can pop out the switch from the trim and then carefully pop off the back of the switch with a screwdriver. Slide a folded piece of very fine sandpaper beteen the contacts. The power to the passenger door also flows through the master switch so this could cause both windows to be inoperable.

My 99 has a recurring problem on the passenger side power window. By removing the door panel and firmly tapping the motor with the handle of a screwdriver, I can get the window to operate for a while. I have also had the problem with the master switch.

I have a '99 Windstar and have had intermittent problems with ALL window switches at one time or another. I have been able to fix them each time by removing the switch assembly from the door panel, taking the assembly completely apart to the point where the contacts can be accessed, and cleaning the contact points with a small knofe blade or a burnishing blade that is actually made for relay contact points. Prior to finding this simple fix, Ford gladly replaced one of the window motors for me.
