Does anyone have experience changing these out?i did mine,96 windstar.get the correct tool and it is a breeze.i tried to use a big crescent wrench etc.no good.i went to advance auto, they had to order it.it is a tool that looks like a mag lite with a half socket end.that is the only way you can get it over the inner tie rod that has a rounded part on it that keeps you fron getting into the socket end of it.it is hard to describe till you see it.it was not too expensive if i remember right.the kit has 3 different ends for different cars i guess.but it works beautifully. it is an "inner tie rod removal set" from AmPro part #T75823.advance has a catalogue--give them the number because they actually ordered the wrong one the first time.you need a half inch ratchet or breaker bar,it inserts in the end of the tool.i called a car talk show when i couldn't figure it out and they said to lower the rack and pinion.don't do it--get the tool.it was like 20 or 30 dollars.wish you were close enough, could loan it to you.
