HELP! fuel problem is eating me up

I have replaced fuel pump and main relay. With the line disconnected at the tank, when I turn on the key or crank the engine I only see a trickle of fuel. ECU seems to be working properly and have switched it out with a donor car. Engine does fire if fuel is sprayed into throttle body. What am I missing?!!:banghead:

Remove the fuel pump and inspect. The pump should produce a strong stream of fuel. You don't have fuel pressure to the injectors.

Put a fuel pressure guage on your fuel filter at the pressure relief, then leave it there (don't take it back out, it will help with tuning your car)

Turn the key on, then check the guage for pressure, or have someone else handy to check for you, after the main relay clicks off, it may drop line pressure back to 0

Your problem sounds like either the Fuel pump, or check valve

Will it stay running after you put the spray to it? or does it just shut back off in a sec?

Fuel pumps dont gush massive ompunts of fuel, but they shouldn't be trickling. They build pressure though, like they said, put a guage on it.

Thanks for the replies. Have had this problem for a while. This is the second fuel pump. I think it is electrical. At one point when you turn the key on the fuel pump was rapidly switching on and off. That was last week. This week no fuel pressure. Just saw a guy in the 92-95 forum with a similar problem on a 93 civic.

Time to break out the wiring diagrams, and start testing wires.

Check grounds, and also the relay that controls the pump, if it doesnt get enough power from bad connections then it will kick on and off, but they dotn take much power to begin with.

THANKS for all the help. Found a bad ground. Almost replaced the wiring harness and stumbled on it. Phew. Glad that's done.
