Fuel Injection system cleaning

Well I just put the plugs, wires, and fuel filter in. Should I be considering fuel injection system cleaning? I have heard of a couple of systems: Motor-vac ; and Slick 50 ( available at Wal-mart auto servie dept.)

Any comments and assistance would be appreciated.

PS: The goal is better fuel economy. I am presetly getting about 17 HWy.

If this has not been done for a while....I would get a can of Berryman's Chemtool B-12.
It is solvent based....and will clean.
Then, every few months, use the correct amount of Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner to keep it clean.....it is detergent based.

I am currently using a product called Fuel Power (FP60) that is available over the internet.
It is a lubricant and detergent.
There are several other quality products out there as well.

Also, check your tire pressure......I would keep them at LEAST 35psi.
Dragging brakes......can be caused by a slightly warped rotor also.
Avoid full throttle accelleration.
City traffic kills your MPG.....

A clean air filter....but....personally, I avoid the K&N and others that you oil......if you use one....be very careful with the oil.....too much, and it can mess up the MAF.....which is right next to the air filter.....
Too little oil....is more dirt into the engine....which wears the engine out...
And more horsepower is NOT more fuel economy.....the computer monitors the airflow....and adds the correct amount of fuel for the ideal mix.....as monitored by your oxygen sensor.......so the air filter is not the big factor that it once was.....although a clogged one will be a bad thing.

On the freeway......on somewhat level ground (not climing mountains), you should be able to get 20+mpg at 65 or so MPH.

Do you actually run yours higher than that? I have always gone with the 31psi listed in the door jamb. I get around 22 on the freeway, sometimes a bit more.

I run mine at the higher psi....but also monitor tire wear.
Of course....you don't want to over-do it......but as long as you don't go over 40psi, you should have no problem.....with good tires

Cleaners in the fuel are good ... that will get the inside of the injector body.

But sometimes you need to remove the injector so you can spray clean the inlet "final screen" and the outlet nozzle "horn". You can remove a great deal of crud from both ends.

Do not ever soak the whole injector body in cleaner.
