It looks like the type of LED they put in with aftermarket alarms that flash to show the alarm is armed to me.

Does it blink at night time ? I have the same thing on my '03, not the same place. I think it is for the radio. That the anti theft is activated, not an alarm or anything. I think the security for the radio is just that if you take this radio out and install in another impala it checks the vin, if it is a different vin the radio locks out.
