Electrical Problem?

First of all, my air bag light by my gauges will randomly flash on and off when I'm driving down the road. Does this mean something is wrong and I should get it checked out? Also, my turn signals will randomly quit working when they are supposed to be on. Then all of a sudden they will come on again. What could be causing this and how could I fix it? By the way, I have a 2001 Impala LS. Thanks.

2 fairly common issues with these cars could cause your problem. One is a bad multifunction switch in the column, the other is the ignition harness assembly. If you are experiencing other gremlins like the chime module going off for no reason or other interior light/dashboard issues, then I'd suspect the ignition harness. If you're having other exterior light issues (no taillamps, only the third brake light works, etc...) then I'd suspect the multifunction switch.
