Hello, I have a 94 Saturn SL2 that won't start. When attempting to start you here the click of the start and that’s it. The car is a manual and will run if you pop the clutch. I took the starter out and had it tested but according to advanced auto it is fine. The battery seems to have plenty of charge so i don’t think its the alternator or battery. Anybody have any ideas what it may be.

Thanks
Brad

It's the starter. Keep hitting the start position on the key and see if it kicks over after a bunch of tries. I'm betting its a worn out solonoid. Bench testing starters isn't always reliable.

i've had trouble starting since i got my car but not the same problem. it'll start almost fine in the cold but when its hot or after i've just been driving it i have to turn the key twice. always twice, never more or less. its the most perplexing thing. i'll let it turn over as much as it wants on the first try but nothing happens, then i'll let off, and not more than half a second later try again and it'll crank twice and catch. its never not started on me so i never really had to address it but i just sold the car to a friend and i would like to fix it for her. any ideas on what it could be?
