I use HS level algebra every single day at my job. The basic word problem skills taught during those classes save my can every single day at work as well as my coworkers. Everything thinks I'm a genious here but really all I am doing is HS level Algebra word problems. I've even created Excel spreadsheets for our most common calculations and protected the work feilds and every one has copies of them in the department.
Don't think teaching HS Math is worthless, my written skills are horrible but my math skills more than make up for my weakness in my boss's eyes. Somedays, I'd give my HS Math teachers a hug if I could.:iceslolan

Just a suggestion for your your work - go and do an advanced Excel course that covers VBScript Macro's in some depth. You'll get _HEAPS_ out of it. Hopefully a promotion too when they see your 1337 skillz.

Well I sure miss creating and selling custom home theatres... I was on AF every freakin day! Now its like... never. :disappoin
I am a headhunter for an IT consulting firm. I source IT candidates for other companies, mostly contract stuff. The client side is fun but talking to some of these socially inept hard core technical people gets really boring.
They kinda sound a bit like, like... Oz.
(Have you done your scripting today?? VB script, Perl script, how about Unix Shell scripting eh?? lol - just joking. I'm a technical guy at heart - use to LOVE programming $2,000 Marantz & Philips remotes with wicked Macros to automate entire luxury home theatres with a single button.)
PS - It's mostly the heads down/stick-in-a-back-room Developers who are the biggest squares.
