sl2 engines

"When I look under the hood of my 2000 SL2 is always notice how much empty space there is. Sure there's a lot of space taken up by compressors, fluid containers, pipes, etc.

Would it be possible to modify a SL2 to fit two DOHC 1.9L engines (http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80237#) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_I4_engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_I4_engine) under the SL2 hood? This give essentially a flat-eight motor, and would double the displacement to 3.8L, and hp to 248hp, and torque to 244 lbf.

Obviously it would be MUCH easier to install a turbo or supercharger to the single 1.9L engine (http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80237#), or switch out the engine for a junk-yard V6 or small blox V8, but I'm looking for the crazy work. So, what is needed to get two 1.9L motors into the Saturn SL? Obviously we need a single transmission, and need to seriously clean-out some space under the hood. I propose that the battery go in the trunk, nix the A/C, etc."

you would need to extend the engine compartrment about a foot and a half or so and you would have to find a way to couple to parts of th engine together. monster gargage did that in the tractor pull one. and i forget the rest

Sounds quite rediculous to me. If you are an expert metal fabricator/engineer/machinist and are bored, then try it. Other than that, forget it. It seems like the only reason to do it would be to show some severe modding skills as the horsepower gains can be achieved by much simpler means.

luckily for me, this isnt anything i intend to do, like i said, found it on some saturn forums and since everyone at those forums are completely clueless as to how cars actually work, i decided to post it here.
