My front brakes are squeaking at every stop. Sounds just like when the wear indicator kicks in, but the pads are about 80% there, so that is not it. What are possible causes for squeaking?
Also, seems like I have the ABS light issue, comes on every so often, resets off when the car is stopped. I found that good post by wiswind dated 2-25-2006 and will try those. Funny thing is, I had a mechanic check the codes last week and he said there weren't any, even the history was clear. Should this be showing up in the Codes? Is there a "better" code reader that I should have to pick these up, and if so, which?

My 99 never had wear indicators so be aware. Did you check both the inner and outer pads? Dirt can cause squeaking too.
Many code readers do not read the ABS and Transmission codes. A mechanic should have known this - or so I would have thought.
Maybe your intermitant ABS light is related to the noise. Check to see if any of the sensors is rubbing and thus out of alignment.
