My 99 Saturn SL failed for Catalyst "not Ready", Evap "not Ready", O2 Sensor "not Ready", EGR "not Ready".... I found out I need to drive it longer, so I did, I drove it for about 20 mins mostly highway, stoped at a store, and drove for about 10mins stop and go, and The inspection place did a Hand Test so that I could bring it back again and still said "not Ready" on all above. One thing I did was turn it off when I got to the Inspection place in which I know now I should not have done.
But I want to make sure it passes is there anything I need to check to make sure that it will pass? IE any sensors, fuse's, or anything? He told me that if I reset a engine light code, unplugged the battery, batter dieing, are all possible causes to this, in which Battery is brand new, and I did not reset any codes, for none have came one.

Any help?

Just incase someone else is having this problem, in my further searches to find a fix, I found...

www.obd2.com/support/reprog/downloads/gm/gm-imset_procedure.pdf (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/www.obd2.com/support/reprog/downloads/gm/gm-imset_procedure.pdf%20-)

www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html)

Theses both give you a procedure to go by, and no I have dont it yet and seen if it works.

I would also like to know if there is anything else I can do to ensure the vehicle passes? As stated above checking any fuse, Sensor, and so forth.

Thanks
Noirnor

I'm assuming that it had a problem recently that caused a code to be set. If you had the problem(s) fixed, have the codes reset (this has apparently already been done), then go out and drive a few days. I'm not sure about other states, but in NC, unless there is adequate history put on the computer after a reset, you will fail the tests. This is because they don't want people with a problem to pull into an inspection station, plug it in and reset it to be able to pass. If you haven't had it fixed recently, you need to have it gone over because apparently there is something wrong.

I've been told that about 100 miles of driving is enough to get it through, but can's say for sure.

Oh, yea, didn't read very well huh. Well then, it should be ok now then. Given some time to set the memory it should pass. Good luck.

Still did not pass. grrrrrrr. :( Followed everything to the GM linnks to the tee... And they say probably is the computer, cause he could manually get everything to work by using his computer. But on computer doesnt work right according to him. :( Any I deals? Could this be something as simple as a fuse or relay?

a say go to a stealership and get it done there it might cost you an arm and a leg but you need it to pass ( one of the good things about living in FL is there is no test you just have to have a good working muffler)

Yea, I'm sorry to say I'd carry it to the dealer too. Doesn't sound like something for a backyard mechanic. What are the odds that the PCM/ECM (can't remember my acronyms) is bad? Anybody have any idea? Sorry man, that stinks.
