Metal nut & bolt aftermarket kits?

Anyone have any opinion on the quality of small-scale bolts, bolt-heads, etc. from the either the Gallery of Transportation (www.galtran.com (http://www.galtran.com)) or RBMotion (no web site - he sells on ebay sometimes). I'm sitting on a 1/12 kit Tamiya kit that I'd like to modify by capping or replacing the little mini-screws with something a little more realistic. I've done the research and am aware of the different ways of fabbing plastic bolt-heads; I just think the metal would be much more impressive. That research did lead me to the above sources , but I haven't found a mention here.

Yeah, I know I should just get started - but the anticipation can be fun too! My challenge is to decide what's going to be "good enough" for me, and getting past the admiration + awe of what I see on these forums...

No opinions? Everybody either
Fabricating them out of plastic
Fabricating them on a mini-lathe
using PE products?...but no one (who cares to post) ever looked at or used these aftermarket pieces?

I guess no one's used them. I haven't. I believe some Japanese manufacturers make similar parts, and I'd bet some people have used those. Perhaps someone who has can weigh in, and at least give you information similar to what you seek. You could always bite the bullet and try it out, and report to us? good luck!

It is my understanding that RB motion is awesome, from what I've seen it's high quality stuff, and he's supposed to be a straight up guy. You can e-mail him for a PDF catalog, sorry I don't know what it is right now.

Thanks everyone! I'm kind of dying to get some RBMotion stuff in front of me, just to marvel at.

Then off to the next dream-but-don't-start yet idea... how would I get crisp numbers printed on each tiny little wheel of the odometer? :grinno:And where to mount the flux capacitor and Mr. Fusion on my Caterham Seven? Or maybe a hybrid powerplant - yeah, that's it....

There is also this place that sells miniature nuts and bolts. I've never seen them but I've heard good things.

RB Motion and Galtran are both good and the metal parts are definitely nicer to have than fabricating your own rivets from plastic.
For getting dials printed try making the graphics on your computer or get very good photos of the original dials and scale them to the right size at high resolution and get them printed like a digital photo at your local or online photo service. You can then just cut them out and place in the model dials. The top photo layer of the print can even be peeled off if paper thickness is a problem. The print should be better than what you can achive at home and doesn't cost a lot....

I can highly recommend the RB Motion stuff and he's a great guy, never had any problems!
