is this normal?

ok latey my 96 sl2 can start the microsecond that the key hits start where other times it may take about a second or too. is this normal? i was thinking about putting in new plugs in it soon just becouse since i bought the car i put on 4k miles and they put on a cheap serpetain belt so they probelly put in cheaper spark plugs. any one's 2 cents on bosch plat?

:nono: No. Platinums are a bad idea. NGK or AC Delco for your specific car only. Sure some people will tell you otherwise and some run fine with them, but the odds aren't in your favor.

as long as it always starts within 4 seconds on the frist key turn, theres no problem in my mind.

every engine responds different to different styles and brands of plug, even if they look identical and cross referance to the same part number. platinums for one commonly do not respond well to the 1.9 saturn engine (although some SOHC owners claim a slight improvement with platinums) the wide spread agreement is NGK V-power or standard NGKs are the best, with AC delco as a not to distant second.

alright cool thanks who would have the NGK V-power? theres mostly autozone, walmart , napa and discout where i live. walmart has the better solation of plugs. autozone just has bosch from what i can see/tell discount has champion and bosch, and napa i have never been too

go to napa first then autozone and don't go to wal-mart for auto parts (order in which i would go). If you don't see them, they can get them in at most a day if you ask.

I got ours from autozone, or it might have been advance auto parts, either way, they carried the AC Delco.

BTW, I put in some of the Bosch platinum before the delcos and they worked fine for about 4 months, then everything freaked out on me, so yea, I don't like them for a saturn. For a guarantee, take out one of the ones that are in it now, write down what it is, and buy 4 of them.

Bosch plugs are way too hot for a stock vehicle. I got NGK V power at Advance Auto for like $2 each. runs great now. Many manufacturers use NGK as their stock brand, so they must be good.

Bosch Platinums being bad for Saturns doesn't have anything to do with heat range but, somehow, I don't think that's what you were refering to.

some people that run forced induction or nitrous oxide on their saturns use bosch for some reason.

because they deliver a higher spark, but they go bad faster.

I put NGK platinums in my '99 SW1. It runs fine and might help in fuel economy.
I put Bosch platinums in a previous car, and 2 plugs dropped their insulators into the engine. I had to use that "no smoke" goop until I got rid of the car.

dang that sucks. i went to ngk website and they only had there regular copper ones i think for the sl2.
