Engine oil level falls below or at minimum level after driving about 3000 Kms.
I am adding about 1 Litre of Engine oil before the next oil change due 4500 Kms.
Is that normal ?

Please suggest any soultion.

my brain can't remember the KM to miles converion right now but 1 qt lost per 2000 miles is normal for the 1.9 engine, any more should be considered for repair

My SW1 uses about a litre / 5000km.
I add half a litre at about 2500 km, to top it up, and then drain less oil at change time, (5000 km), when it's a half litre low.

Its a Feature of most Saturns. Saturn is environment friendly car company which does what it can to reduce waste and promote eco-friendly consumers. One of the things Saturn does to help the environment is to reduce waste oil by burning off 1 qt every 3k miles. Think about it, thats 1 less quart of oil every oil change which won't end up polluting our rivers and streams!

Next oil change try changing the pcv valve (positive crankcase ventilation) they are fairly cheap. Make sure you record exactly where the oil is on the dip stick. Also make sure there is no oil leaks. 1 other thing, have you notice any blue smoke comming out of the tail pipe???? do you have the sohc or dohc engine

OIL CONSUMPTION!!! My 95 SL1 will burn probably a little more than a quart every lets say 150 miles or so, give or take. You're thinking yea right, but honest to the big man I am not joking what-so-ever. If I could get a video of my taking off kinda hard up to 4500RPM you would understand. The most accurate description is a mosquito fogger. HahAhHa... So probably gonna rebuild it within the next few months...

I've read of Saturns having the top piston ring seize.
Maybe this may be your problem?
There are many articles to read thru, but usually people put a "release oil" of some kind in thru the spark plug holes, and let it sit a while, then do an oil change.
I'm not sure of the whole treatment, so look it up before you try it.

My 95 SL2 with 130k miles on it burns about 1 quart regularly every 1k miles. No noticeable blue smoke either. I've got a small leak around the oil pan that coats it with with oily grime but nothing huge by any means nor not near enough to account for 3 quarts loss between oil changes. I've tried Restore additive as well with no noticeable effect and put a new valve cover gasket on as it leaked a little as well. It runs great and gets 32+ mpg so I'll just leave well enough alone I suppose.

I think I will change the PCV valve and see if that helps.

HAHA, theres one way to look at it.

but honestly, properly disposed oil is normally recycled(thats right that "new" oil going into your car may have come out of mine!)
