What is the problem here? If the owner of the photographs wants the ID of the owner of that car to remain a secret, then let it be a secret and delete the name.

Simple as that and respect privacy.

The problem is that you apparently didn't read the thread that well!

The photographer's knowledge of the F1 owner's name is not his secret to keep. Or rather, it doesn't matter if HE won't tell anyone the owner's name, because there have been other ways through which we found out.

That time already? :grinyes:

The owner's name is John Stanton of Seattle, WA.

You might want to read the thread again too. Initially I was wrong (it happens...) about the owner being Stanton.

It is odd that, on the one hand, some users of this forum will proudly describe the extensive and ingenious efforts that they have made to discover the identity of an owner, and on the other hand they will defend their publicizing of the owner's identity on the basis that it is in the public domain!

How does that work?

I agree, it is very sdisprespectful. The even have McLaren F1 owners themselves commenting this, but they dont respect that as well :grinno:

Flemke, owner of "the blue one in Germany", posted the following on Pistonheads:

Quote:
There is at least one website forum which has quite a few active members and no limitation on public access. The active members appear to focus on accumulating and posting almost every imaginable detail about every F1, including the identities of the owners.

If their activity were simply the sharing of this information amongst themselves via a private email users' group, that would be fine, and one would applaud them for their passion and their detective skills.

Because they make this information available to anyone and everyone, (and sometimes it is not accurate or confirmed) that transcends the boundary of fair, considerate behaviour and (unintentionally, of course) exposes innocent people to unnecessary risk.

I'd agree, Gustav.

True, due to the simple fact that some of you are so ignorant that you ignore the wishes of the very few owners there exist on this car: their privacy.

Hell, how many of you even wrtie out your full name or pictuire of you in this forum?

If you guys know anything at all about the owner of this car you would know why he doesn't want his info posted. You guy's are the reason why a lot of big car collectors won't post on these type of boards. I know of 3 Mac f1 owners that cringe when they hear about f chat and this site. They all know you just grab info from there and report it as fact on this site with out even checking to see if it real or not.

You guys need to get a life! :screwy:

Gustav much respect to you and your site. :)

Ah come on your posting here, wheres your life? and a certain Mr Glickenhaus posts on fchat i think he has a life. Not to mention Mr Bridger on this forum he also seems to have one.If your attacking the posting of private info on public forums then i agree with you, but if your attacking being on these forums, then what are you doing on them?:naughty:
