i was curious about putting a h22 or h23 engine in my 88 4 door sedan,,,i know this swap is highly not recommended,,do you guys know where i would find motor mounts and what exactly i would need to complete the swap,,and about no power steering thats fine but i was wondering about the no a/c,,does that mean no heater or just no cool air a/c?

I would assume given that you have all the mounts and its running in your car...no a/c would just mean no compressor. (because of the tight space). Your blower/fan in your car would still be functional. In fact if you have that little button that lights up when you switch your a/c, it will still light up. Your heater should still work too because it works of your radiator.

place racing sells a half ass weld-in kit..that's really the only kit available right now...

Yes, you would probably need a new hood...Price for swap, tough to say, but here are the parts that you would need (same as doing any other swap) just find out how much they are and add em up...supply the labor and there you go...

Axles & appropriate half shaft
mounts
shift linkage
distributor
ecu
injectors
rear bracket
injector resistor box

* given that you've wired your car for MPFI and you have a complete motor and tranny w/ starter and matching alternator ( right obd plugs).
* provide for new radiator hoses (upper and lower), timing belt, water pump, oil, cap & rotor, coolant

...you shouldnt need a new hood if the engine is mounted correctly...I've seen plenty w/ stock hoods...well, not plenty...but the few I've seen had stock hoods ;)

I wouldn't recommend Place Racing mounts for anything. That's what I have in my CRX and it vibrates through the 3500 - 4500 band.

I was looking into doing this swap as well and from what I found it is extremely dangerous to do this swap. you have to bang out some parts in the engine compartment which weakens the car plus the engine is a lot taller than most so either you need a new hood or else it is really low to the ground and can rub some very vital parts so in my opinion I wouldn't recomend that engine see if you can find a JDM b18c they run pretty much the same horsepower.

B18c is tall too...maybe just a hair lower than an H22 if not the same. Hasport mounts, the better of all available mounts so far (i think), made the billet ones about half an inch taller than the old ones. ONe of the reasons is because of swaps like this and it will give your axles a better angle too. You can change your hood to a ZC or take the webbing off underneath your stock, therefore keeping your hood. I hope your not planning on autocrossing with this motor...

Yep, deffinitely for quarter mile runs only! Handling would be trashed.

the only part about doing the swap that i am worried about is ( you have to bang out some parts in the engine compartment which weakens the car ) weakens the car,,,so what does that mean exactly,,would the engine sag down slowly from a weak engine compartment?

First of all, reason why engine compartment needs to be banged is to fit the darn engine. Free pulley space and rear lip for vibrations..only compromise on strength would probably be the crossmember...you may have to cut and hammer it down to fit the header...not all headers, in this case, if you're putting in a jdm 4-1 header. But you can acquire an aftermarket crossmember like from place racing and there would be no more compromise.:sun:

The only thing you should have to "bang out" is move the Firewall back a little bit, other than that you shouldn't have to move anything else around. Although it's recommended that you take out the A/C, power stearing (that's nutz), and other unnecessary stuff in there. No, you don't need a new hood for your car, the stock one you've got will fit fine. You should be able to find the right mounts on E-bay, but I'm not positive they'll have them (I've only looked at the ones for the 92-95 civics). A new suspension system for your car would be a very good idea also, because if u use the one you've got now most likely your car will have the front way low and the end a little higher up; it's just not ment to hold that much weight. Here's a link about how to do the swap and seemingly everything u need and need to do for it. Hope this helps ya out. Peace...

Ummmmm why????? 1) the engine is heavy and would turn ur car into a poor handling rocket. 2) I dont think anyone on this board has the skills to do this swap without much professional help. Beware this swap would cost much much more than any other.

What makes you think we're not skilled professionals in this forum?

EF not so much that WE arent(we know we really are) but from what i know about h22a into civic it usually takes a couple of shops or groups working to get it done correctly.

Just yanking your chain. I know what you're talking about. For the record, I havent seen any hybrid site that recommend an H22 swap in an EF/ED. It's been done many times but handling/steering performance is compromised. Good Night:D
