hey,
i just got a 97 saturn sl2.and when i start my car my coolant gauge is already at a 1/4 of a 1/4 up.so when i let it worm up it goes upto reg temp between the 1/4 and halfway mark.so i was wondering if there was something wrong with coolen the car or just a weird gauge.it had a new altinater like 10k miles ago.from the recipt i got with it.so could that be the problem or is this a comin problem and should i be worried

if the gauge is just a hair off the lowest line with the engine cold , i woundn't worry, expectally if you live in a warm area, this would not be related to your alternator

it's probably the ECTS. That's the first thing you should check on your newly preowned saturn and that's a common symptom you described. depending on your area, it costs about $15~$20 at your dealership.

the proper temperture reading of a warmed up s-series saturn should be the following :

If it is not, then change the ECTS and connecter if needed :)
