Yea, so i was driving to work this morning and I saw this clean z28 that had a license plate that said "SVT HA" First I laughed and giggled like a little school girl, then I figured fuck it! Mind as well see how bad I lose. So we get to a stop light and the light turns green, first thing off the line he jumps me, so we keep going and we probably hit 70 before we shut down, but he had a good car on me. I just knoded my head a smiled. I think if i would have had a good launch he may have only beat me by a half a car. Anyways, that thing was pretty nice&clean plus quick as hell. Oh yeah, lol, there was some focus SVT right next to us when we launched lol, i thought he was going to try and get in on it, but I guess he had a better mind.

judging by the headlites probably a 98. In order for a z28 to be that quick he has to have some decent mods right? I mean hes talking svt ha, well you mind as well say 12sec car ha. Aren't LS1's like mid-low 13's stock?

Mid-low 13s... lol
Nah, high 13s on a good day. Mid 13s on a perfect run, maybe.
LS1's will run mid 13s all day if the driver is worth his beans... most aren't.

You must've raced Danno, JUST KIDDING!!!! An LS2 powered GTO should snarf your car pretty good from what i've seen of your mods. It's all in the driver. RWD/ FWD cars are not that easy to get outta the hole.
Considering you only raced him to 70mph, he did quite well, and beating you off the line would be hard for most anyone w/ a rwd cars without slicks or drag radials.

I'd love to see a 13.7 sec. out of a stock WRX. I have yet to see a stock one pull off a 14 sec. flat 1/4 mile, let alone get in the 13's BONE STOCK.
If you live in Southern California you're more then welcome to accompany Danno and I to Famoso Raceway to see what your car can do. We will be going on June 17, 2006.

It's from all these boneheads online from E Town and Sears point. They think that all tracks are the same, eventhough their track is sometimes at a negative density altitude. Some people don't think that altitude affects a car's performance. I can see a STOCK WRX running 13.7 sec. at -1000 DA, but at sea level and 0 DA it ain't gonna happen.

Famoso Raceway is located in Bakersfield. It's gonna be a drive for Danno and I, but considering how Fontana Speedway is closed for right now, and LACR sucks ass, I figure why not run at a near sea level track.
If you wanna run the best times possible you should go to Famoso, as it is only 635 above sea level. Here is the information on the track:

I knew all you guys would be ragging on the 13.7s claim.
And don't get me wrong, I was FIRST! :grinyes:
BUT
I have heard of quite a few, some in USA on NASIOC and some on local WRX forums in Aus, that an 06 WRX is quite capable of running 13.84s with a pretty experienced WRX driver. The word is that the very avg driver should be pushing 14s-14.1.
HOWEVER
Maxxus, I still don't believe YOU can pull a 13.6 as u claimed a cple of weeks ago (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=566875) (post#5). I would hope by now you know that even 13.7s are a freak of nature. But that guy on NASIOC did do it and there's no reason to believe otherwise (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=979781&page=1&pp=25).
Atm, my belief is that a decent driver can do 13.9-14.1s in the 06 WRX. This is quite an improvement given that the pre 06 ones had most avg ppl doing anywhere between 14.3-14.6
However, the 06 WRXs are not proven yet, so Maxxus, get ur ass on the track and see what you can run.
The 06 WRXs are something still yet to be proven as they are quite new. However, the potential I see is quite tantalising. 2.5L (almost the same engine same as the STi), not much more hp (my guess is limited by subaru for marketing reasons i.e. to be able to up it every year), but 20Nm more torque which comes in earlier and hence lasts for a bit longer.
From what I hear from people who have upgraded from previous WRXs, it's quite a different car from the old ones.

So let me get this straight. You can't beat a heavy, torquey, RWD, hard to launch car, off the line (on the street where it favors you even more, mind you), yet you think you can pull a near perfect time for your car? I don't find it too hard to believe that the car can run a 13.7 since they seem like they are underrated, however seeing as how you cant outlaunch an LS1 on the street in your AWD car, I doubt it..... Good luck though!

Oh ok. Yeah Mustang dynos spit out rather low numbers. I could see an STi only pulling that to the wheel on one. I believe stock LS1's only pull out about 260-270whp on those.

On a side note, Mustang dyno's are thought to be more accurate than other types aren't they? Whever I talk about WHP I typically go by the readings given by Mustang dyno's since that is the only kinda dyno we have in this town. As a result people often look at me like I'm crazy when I chime in with the WHP of a car I've seen. The guy that owns the shop has a list of all the cars he has dyno'd, and puts down their mods and what power they made (with the owner's conscent of course). I believe the highest powered car on there was a 400WHP Prelude.

Mustang dynos put a load on the car, unlike Dynojets, so they are more accurate. I believe there is a new Eddie Dynojet that is just as accurate, and more user friendly then the Mustang Dyno.
I went for the Dynojet, cause I wanted high numbers :D

No dyno is any more 'accurate' than another.

I believe either Car And Driver or Motor Trend tested out the various forms of dynos, and they are not all created equal. The mustang dyno was the most accurate. They tested the same cars, and got different numbers on the same dyno on the same day, with the same weather conditions. Not all dynos are created equal, and the mustang dyno has proven to be more "accurate" as a tuning tool then the dynojet.
I'll see if I can find that article later on tomorrow to prove my point.

I believe the word you're looking for is "reliable"
Mr Luos is right, none are more "accurate".
Just some dynos will give less inconsistencies and are more reliable.

All dynamometers use math to determine how much horsepower you have. How can you really say which is more accurate. The fact of the matter is that you should use the same dyno throughout the tuning process for accurate results. I've heard that each one is more accurate than the other. Just pick with one and stick with it. Who cares about numbers unless you're building a dyno queen?

He's got a 1,000 cc bike. My money would be on him smoking you. That bike of his is a low 10 sec. one, with a good rider.
