My first tip would be to make sure you have a fat wallet.

fat wallet indeed!
b18c5 + tranny + stuff: $4500
HASport mounts, axels, linkage, hydro to cable conversion: $1250-ish

not required but helps:
z10 traction bar $500-ish

recommend to run obd-1 which depends on if you just run an obd-1 ecu or chipped p28 + conversion harness $150

don't forget to budget in labor. which depends on your local market. w00t! i'm owner of a swap shop so we did it ourselves :icon16:

you can use other mounts than HASport. however, other mounts such as AVID sit the engine a little lower. which is great for a b16 as you need the hood clearance. i don't suggest that with a c5 as the engine is naturally bigger/lower. HASport is just about the only mount that will seat the engine high enough to not rip a hole in the oil pan.

not to be rude, but i answered those questions already....

please go back and read. you need new mounts. i posted which aftermarket mounts i used, and why i used them verses other mounts avalible.

yes, i am using the hydro LSD gearbox...something else i already posted as well. tranny (american) = gearbox (new zealand). i had to use the HASport conversion to use the hydro tranny in my cable driven car. it's the shiney billet piece mounted to the front of the tranny in this pic:

not i did not get a whole car. most of the stuff in a Type R engine bay is useless in the 88-91 Civic. you can not use the linkage, axels, mounts, or other various parts. you need aftermarket parts in order to fit the Integra parts into a Civic. my b18c5 arrived on a wooden pallet from the engine distributor i use for my shop. the other option is a whole front clip where they chop off the front end of the car right behind the front seats. they send you everything complete including the dashboard, fenders, bonnet, and in some cases the floor mats. that option is good for 92+ Civic or 94+ Integra as those parts switch over....but not good for 89 which does not switch over.

i think your best option would be to find a wrecked ITR or an engine distrubitor. we have a couple of members who have been on this forum a few years, they are on your side of the world. they could help you translate my wacky american slang :screwy: into useful info...and help you locate the parts i speak of.

i asked Moppie to join us in this convo as he's on your side and he's been listening to us americans longer than he probably cares to admitt...lol

at the current moment i am using the stock cross-member. however, i have a z10 bar on it's way here. you can cut the stock mounting bracket on the crossmember out. we simply whacked the mounts in towards eachother making room so that after it's pulled out it can be used in another car.

the harness you need depends on which ecu (computer) you use. the ITR ecu you have is obd-2. you really should run it obd-1 so you can check the codes should the check engine light pop on. i'm not sure if you can get the harness over there or have to order one from here....this is where Moppie is supposed to come in....

96 so it has 4 lug? i really wish i had a wrecked ITR, not just the clip right about now. there are quite a few accessories you can put on your Si. like the center console + armrest. you can also grab the rear disc brake conversion...if it wasn't damaged. the seats! its hard to come by a wrecked but still running ITR here.

Hello 89 civic type R, good to see another Kiwi :)

I used to have an SiR, and my partner has an Si, so I am well are of the differnces between them.
The Jap spec Si (which you have) is actualy very similar to the US spec Si which is what LadyNRedSi has.
The only real differnce, that matters to you, is the engine. Your car has the Twincam ZC engine, hers was only a single cam. However, both used what is essentialy the same engine block and gear box.
All the suspension, cross members etc, are the same.

You will have to do the very same mods to your car, to fit a B series engine in.

It is very possible, but IMO far to expensive.
It would be much cheaper, and much much easier to simply by an SiR. There are still a few around, and they are not to expensive.
Then you can literaly bolt in a B18c out of an Integra Type R.
No need to change the gear box, or mess around with new engine mounts, corss member etc.
There are other advantages, the brakes are MUCH bigger, and the whole suspension design is differnt, it uses differnt mounting points which improves its geometery. The SiR is has less understeer, and is a bit more nimble, with a slight tendancy to oversteer when pushed.
It is truely worthy of the R designation at the end.

hey there thanks for you help , i brought a cheaps sir 89 civic as well , but i can't put the type r engine in it because i have done heaps of exterior work to my si civic (show car ) , also you no the front crossmemeber did you use that front mounting bracket ?? for the engine ?? , i want to get a smaller crossmember because i think it will get in the way of my extractors,
