windstar 96 engine shut off

hi i had a windstar 96 gl when i stop the engine shuts off i can see the rpm foling down like up and down a little while and then engine stops, i can restarted it again but almost avery red ligth the engine stalls, the mechanic change the pcv valve, clean the aic valve, replace the sparks, check cables, change oxigen sensors he said the piston 1 is failing, in the scan it shows fails the piston 1 , but they check pressure its ok, spark plugs (http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic205547.htm#) was replace and the engine continues to stall on stops, the failed is intermitent itdoesnot goes off always,i think is a cable problem in one of the sensors maybe, because it does not shows any error code on scans. who ca help me

If you were having a sensor problem (or wiring to a sensor) then it should set a code. If you are experiencing a misfire it should set a code. (Assuming that the PCM is working).

I am not sure from your post but is your CEL on? If so what are the raw number codes?

What does he mean by "Piston #1 is failing"? If there is a mechanical problem with this cylinder than it probably would not be intermittant. Is he getting a cylinder #1 misfire code?

hi, the mechanic said it was no error code shown on the scan, that is why he can´t find the cause, he borrow a scan from a friend who works on a ford dealer and shows a graphic of the cylinders and when the truck begin to fail the cylinder 1 begins to loose power , they check compression and it´s ok, cables ok, all electric is fine, fuel inyectors ar ok, olso, is there a comon failer on these model of windstars 96 that i should now about so i can tell the mechanic to look for., i´m from veracruz, ver. in mexico. some one can help me thanks

Vera Cruz? This van lives in Vera Cruz? Ola amigo! Well now, lets get down to business. 96 is pretty old. A no start issue with no code is rare. (here in Savannah GA) However, it may be that Windstars sold there didn't require such sophistication as ODB2. My advice is . . . Click "SEARCH THIS FORUM" and plug in "IMRC 96 3.8" Read everything. The IMRC rails on a 96 were "very bad." Post back with more questions.
