I did the search on AF and didnt find anything on what I'm looking for..:screwy:

My windstar is 1995 GL 3.8L with mechanical cluster... this yellow light came on once in while... the light looks like oil dipstick (yellow/orange light) .. I searched the website and owner manual and could not find anything what that light means. I was able to download the owner manual from Ford sites but they only offer 1996 and newer. Nothing on yellow oil dipstick light on there. ANybody knows what that means and what needs to be done?

Another thing, the oil light (red) flicker when I come to stop at the light, so I did the oil pressure test and the reading is low (appx 35psi with motor at normal temperature and revving at 2500 RPM) ... I replaced the oil pressure sending unit and I will replace the oil pump this incoming weekend... think its ok to keep driving it for short distances or just let the van sit till its fixed?:dunno:

Many thanks and keep up with this great forum!!!

Hello

I have a 95 Windstar. I bought it with it needing headgaskets at 177,000 miles. It was running but pumping antifreeze out the tail pipe. When I started it up I heard a few of the rods making noise until the oil psi was built up. Since I had it apart most of the way to to the headgaskets, I thought that pulling the oil pan and replacing the rod bearings wasn't too much more work. I'm glad I did! Most all of the rod bearings showing copper on the uppser half. #6 was the worst offender. Now I do not loose anti-freeze out the tail pipe and don't get as much noise on startup.

I would be willing to bet that your rod bearings are warn to the point that they aren't holding psi when the engine is warm. Do you hear any rod noise on startup? How many miles on your 95?

Oh...the little light that looks like a dipstick is a light that says to check your oil level. Take a look at your oil pan in the front. About half way up there should be a sensor in the pan sensing the oil level with wires coming out of it.

Regards

Dan
