03 Impala LS 75000 miles won't start

Hi there, my 2003 Chevy Impala LS with about 75,000 miles won't start. I can roll my windows up and down. When I turn the key to start NOTHING happens. It's like the car is dead, the gas gauge won't move, etc. But like I said I can roll the windows up and down. Any thoughts? It worked fine 4 hours ago, no problems.

Also, I have this Security error that comes on every now and then. I had my mechanic replace the fuses, twice. Each time that fixed the problem but eventually it would keep doing it. This problem also killed the automatic lock function and my keyless remote thing. The only way to fix it is to replace the fuse, that gets burnt out. so any ideas?

Also, I just went out and tried it again. I tried starting it with the door open and nothing. The check engine light comes on. I still have full use of windows, and headlights.

Well I have an 2002 and i was having problems with sercurity lights coming on and when that happen and you turn the car off it won't start for a few min.
I found out it if you have a aftermarket radio the bcm readings runs thru the radio. What happen is the bcm crash or lose the computer reading or something like that. I had to replace my bcm and they had to take my radio out and i have not had any problems since but now I have no radio. I have the oringanal radio that i have to get put back in.

Well AAA just came. We thought I had a short that ran the battery down. But it was a battery cable that wasn't connected correctly. Car now runs fine, but probably still has security light issues.

your radio had nothing to do with your BCM going out, they arent connected, whoever told you that either doesnt know what they are talkinga bout, or were just trying to feed you bullshit to shut you up. Obviously it was a dealership.

If you still end up having a security light issue, it is most likely going to be your passlock or the ignition switch (where you put your key) going bad.

If the passlock system is going bad, it wont let your car to start, it's the security built into the car.

I read somewhere on this forum that you can spray a can of compressed air into the ignition and it helps clean off the passlock sensor.

from what I recall, there is no sensor, it's an electirical componet that can just go bad, it has to sense that the PCM and BCM have the same VIN programmed into them, at which point, it will allow the vehicle to start, if the passlock system has difficulty accessing those 2 computers, it will not allow the car to start.

a shot of air wouldn't clean off any sensor, at most it would blow off dust from the electrical contacts of the ignition switch, and allow for a more "direct" contact of the electrical prongs.

You may get away with taking off the ignition switch and using contact cleaner on it to help clean the electrical connections, otherthan that, the switch may just be going bad, or the passlock could as well.

Not entirely true. Your radio, BCM and other modules are on a Data bus (a network in other words). The all communicate with each other. Substituting an aftermarket radio, if installed properly, will not cause a BCM failure. It will cause Uxxxx codes to set for loss of communication because a "link in the chain" is missing. Oh, and by the way, I work for a dealership, and I don't spread Bullshit like the incorrect info you posted.

You are correct that it could be a Passlock sensor, or BCM terminal spread. Your DEALER has service bulletins regarding diagnosis. If the car won't start, it may time out afte 10 minutes and then start if tried again. Mine does.

If you still have security issues, then check out this thread.
