95 Sc2 Uses Oil

Has 76,000 actual miles. uses about a quart every 300-400 miles. It doesnt blow any smoke that I can see and the mechanic said he didnt see any signs of leakage?:banghead: Do Saturns tend to use more oil? (This is dual ohc) Car sat most of the time for about three years. Could this have damaged the seals? any thoughts appreciated.:feedback:

if there is no real visible smoke, id say your valve stem seals are fine. i bet its going to be 2 things, piston rings are seized letting too much oil past and valve cover gasket is leaking around the spark plug wires.

something that normally helps seized piston rings is to do a piston soak. 2 kinds of soaking agents are widely used which are marvel mystery oil or gm tec(top engine cleaner). what you do is run the car to operating temp, and let set for a while. come back when its still warm (not hot but still pretty warm) and pull the spark plugs. pour the soaking agent into the cylinder, i normally put just enough to cover pistons but you might want to add even more. if you add just enough to cover the piston, you will have to constantly check it to make sure the piston is still soaked. now after you add the fluid, put the spark plugs back in so it causes like a steaming action. let that set for at least 12 hours (might want to check fluid level every so often). now after that pull the spark plugs again and see if there is any fluid left over. if there is you will have to disable the coil packs by unplugging the connector (located just below coil packs) amd disable fuel pump by pulling relay. now crank it with rags over the plug holes to catch excess fluid. now if there was no fluid in the cylinder or a small bit, then go ahead and crank it but make sure its outside because it might smoke pretty bad.
