96 LS transmission problems

Ok, I read most of the posts reguarding this issue but I wanted to put it out there for some more "direct" feedback.
I have a 96 LS with about 166k. Just started this weekend slipping into neutral at a stop while in drive. I can shift into nuetral, park, or 2nd and back into drive and get it going again. About a week before this problem I had a hose break and the car sat for a day (battery died) before I got it towed to be replaced. I've checked the fluid (will re-check after my drive home tonight) and it's now normal, but was low.
Any suggestions? I'm probably going to trade this in on a new car, but I would like for this problem to be solved before I do so to maximize the value of my trade.
Thanks in advance for any help!

you are experiencing classic systems of AX4S Piston warpage failure. Unfortunately, the only remedy is a total rebuild which costs close to what the car is worth.
