2001 sc1 W/ auto to 96 sl2 W/ manual

i have a 2001 sc1 donor car with an auto trans and was wondering if anyone knew if i could use the engine in my 1996 sl2 while keeping my manual trans i do not care about the power im gonna lose because it is just a daily driver just need to know before i try and come to a dead end or driveability problems i got this motor for free and want to do whatever it takes to make it work even if i have to lose the manual please help me and i thank all of you who can tell me anything have an excellent day!!!!

the 96 transmission will mate to the 01 engine. the PCM and wiring harnesses are very different, i suggest trying to find a 96 SOHC PCM/wiring. the intake, exhaust and fuel systems are different, i suggest to not use the 01 head, use a 95-98 head, DOHC if possible then you can reuse your old manifolds/fuel system/PCM/wiring. depending on the cause of failure you may be able to reuse your 96 head

yeah the pcm and wiring can be an issue, as with the egr being changed in the 3rd gens. probably the easiest thing to do would be swap the manual trans into the 01 car. then you could have the pcm reflashed or run it without being flashed and have a cel light on.

but ive got to ask, what is wrong with the dohc?

the dohc is knocking and the valve seals leak plus the sohc only has 45000 miles on it. but i think i can change all the sensors from the dohc to the sohc because the computer and sensors have the same resistance in the same places when checked with a voltmeter so i should be able to jerririg something to trick the pcm into thinking the original motor is still ther it sounds crazy:screwy:but i think its so crazy it just might work!!!!!!!!! let me know what you think.
p.s. the 2001 sc1 is junk the only thing savable is the motor and trans so that idea is out sux i know cause ive got the title but it wasd rolled like 5 times:rofl: the roof is flat with te top of the door panel plus they used the jaws of life to get the person out of it.

no if you stick the sohc motor in place of the dohc without pcm swap, it wont work. its not so easy to just swap things although saturns are fairly easy with swaps.

well, it would work....but your fuel maps will be beyond crazy and the engine will run like crap

well it didnt matter about the sensors, they are the same.
